ABOUT DAVID J. COTTON
Thank you for visiting my website.
I'm an artist from Gainesville Georgia. Most of my work is done in watercolor and acrylic. Inspired by shapes, textures, and character of structures and landscapes, I enjoy painting architecture, open landscapes, and abstract compositions.
I've always enjoyed drawing but did not start painting until 2018, at age 61. Painting with acrylics was my 1st choice and while I still enjoy them, watercolor has become my most recent interest.
Painting gives me a way to slow down and really look at the world around me. Whether it's a quiet landscape, an old building, or something more abstract, Im always trying to capture a sense of balance and connection. My work is about noticing the beauty in ordinary places and translating that feeling to the canvas.
Growing up in Gainesville, I have a wealth of inspirations all around me. From Lake Lanier to the North Georgia mountains, great landscapes and architecture are automatically provided.
